Hello Everyone. I don’t know about you but every now and then I have to remind myself of some things. Lately I’ve been dealing with a lot of people that think they really know me and that think they know what it is I should be doing with my life. Have you ever come across those kinds of people? I’m not talking about those people who have been put in your life to help mentor or stretch you. No, I’m actually talking about those people that try to squash your dreams, keep you limited and confined and do all they can to keep you from shining and breaking through barriers. You know the ones that say, “You can’t do that. You’re dreaming. You need to do this. This is what you’re supposed to do. So do it and be happy about it! This is your place. Stay in your place!” They whisper doubt in your ear. They put roadblocks in your pathway. They get in your face and boldly challenge you and your beliefs on every level. They try to strong arm you into a place you know you are not supposed to be. And if they happen to be in a place of authority, they parade around like a king, carrying around the words “What are you going to do about it?” like a weapon. Uugh!! I know what I’m talking about. I’ve faced it. I am facing it.
Or maybe you’ve encountered certain situations or issues that try to define who you are. Maybe you dealt with some depression or maybe you got into a bad financial spot. Maybe you suffered some abuse. I don’t know but instead of being just an experience, it tries to become your definition. People begin to identify you by the experience. You begin to live in that experience instead of just passing through it. But pass through it you must. You are not what happened or happens to you. There is so much more to you that you and the world around you needs to discover.
So often this month, I have wanted to yell out, “You don’t know me! You don’t even have a clue as to who I am!!! Get off me!” Oh, it’s been kind of bad! My patience has been tested and often my attitude has needed some adjusting. But something is rising up in me that refuses to be held back- that’s refusing to be confined and defined by anything and anyone that is ungodly or that is not pronouncing over me what God has spoken over my life.I had to keep reminding myself that I need to not only know Who defines me, but I need to and must walk in Who & what defines me? I am divinely defined by God. God is in control of my life. He created me! He orders my steps! He is arranging things to work out favorably for me! He will bring to past that which He promised in my life! And if anyone is in disagreement with that, I refuse to allow it to affect me. I am going to stay in faith. I’m not going to argue with you or waste my time trying to prove myself to you. I’m going to stand on God’s word and we’ll watch Him prove Himself!
People and circumstances will always try to define us but we have to be strong enough and confident enough in who we are not to let the small mindedness and misguided opinions of others or the temporary trials, setbacks, heartaches and pains that we go through phase, shake or move us. People and circumstrances can not define me. Who or what defines you? Think about it before you answer. |

DIVINELY DEFINED
I am divinely defined by God-therefore your definition of me doesn’t matter.
You think you know me but don’t be fooled- What you see- What you think you know is really not truth-
If you want to know who I really am, close your natural eyes and see me through the eyes of God-
‘Cause I cannot be defined by my past circumstances-whether good or bad.
I cannot be defined by the names I’ve been called, by the troubles I’ve see, by the mistakes I’ve made, by what used to be.
Nor can I be defined by your limited view of what you think I am capable of doing or what you think I am capable of becoming.
So, if you know me by these things- you don’t know me. You don’t even have a clue as to who I am or what I have on the inside or what I have to offer you and the world around me.
I am divinely defined by the One who created me- the One who called me-
His definition of me- His expectation of me is all that matters.
I am divinely defined therefore I don’t look to you to tell me who I am-
I look to Him- knowing that as I seek Him, I find my own self- for it is in Him that I stand revealed.
I am divinely defined!
