I just wanted
to say that God’s love never ceases to amaze me. It’s been a tough week or so but even in the midst of it all, God’s greatness continues to overshadow everything else. We just have to remind ourselves of His greatness and magnify that instead of the other stuff, even when it feels like things are not changing. We have to be careful to speak what God’s says and expect to see the manifestation of His Word and promises in our lives.
The first day of spring rolled in a little while ago. I don’t know what your weather was/is like where you are but let me tell you on day two of Spring, we had major snow here in Michigan. I sat on my couch looking out of my deck door and thought, “You’ve got to be kidding me!!” After Spring entered, we’ve had at least 2 more major snowfalls. It was cold! We broke record numbers in snow falls for our state. There were accidents everywhere. Car’s were sliding in ditches from the black ice. You could barely see in front of you while you’re driving. Schools were cancelled. We were warned to stay inside and only go out if you just had to. Incredible. Hello!! Can we get some heat please? It’s supposed to be Spring!! My brothers Wellsman and Bernard live in Tennessee. They were calling me saying, “It’s 75 degrees here. I’m sitting out on the deck. We’re about to Bar-b-Que.” My response would be, “I’m shoveling snow off my truck!”
On the second major snow fall after Spring, as I was tempted to complain, it dawned on me that it is Spring. Just because the climate outside doesn’t look as if we have entered a new season, we have still entered a new season. Spring has still arrived! Hmm… something hit me. Some of us have been declaring that it’s a new season in our lives (Israel Houghton sings about it so beautifully… “♫It’s a new season, it’s a new day. Fresh anointing, coming my way. It’s a season of power and prosperity. It’s a new season coming to me!♫“) however, there doesn’t appear to be any change. Oh but we must continue to declare it.
Although things might not look as if they are changing, they are. The climate of our lives may look like we’re still in our previous season, but don’t get discouraged. Continue to declare your new season! Continue to EXPECT to see changes every day. Put away the old season and the old mindset that went with it! Don’t wait until things look right before you walk right! Don’t you dare wait for the external changes to occur before you start making the internal changes. It’s a new season baby-snow and all! What does your new season look like?
Yesterday it was 60 degrees. The sun was shining and it was beautiful outside. I was ready for it and I was prepared for it. I had moved my Spring clothes to the front of my closet weeks ago in anticipation. I didn’t have to delay my enjoyment of the day by having to go look for stuff. I was ready. My spring shoes were on the top shoe rack and the boots had been moved to the bottom. My cool sunglasses were on the counter by the door waiting for me to put on as I stepped out into Spring. Although I finally had a little heat and sun that represented and announced Spring, Spring started for me when snow was still on the ground.
You may have been in a season of despair or a season of grief. Perhaps you had a season of rebellion or a season of struggles. Maybe things have not appeared to have changed as much as you wished. I want to challenge you to prepare now for the new season that you are expecting in your life. Ask God to give you a fresh new vision for your life. Get a new attitude. “♫Ooh Ooh Ohh Ohh Ooh…♫“ (Alright, don’t make me sing Patti Labelle…Oh sorry, my bad! Where was I…? J) Do some spiritual Spring cleaning. Get rid of stuff that is not needed and that won’t be productive in this new season. Clean up your thoughts. Develop new habits- good and productive habits that will help move you forward. See yourself accomplishing new things and enjoying life. So when opportunity arrives, you are ready to step out and seize the moment and feel good about where you are and about where you’re going! Despite what things may look like or feel like (perceptions and feelings are subject to change), the Word of God that we know, believe and speak changes the seasons of our lives!!! So, once again I will ask you, “What does your season look like?”
Stay Encouraged and Live with Great Expectation!!!!!
