It has been a long week for me. Actually it has been a long season for me. I have tried 
my best to stay focused on God and His word and I have tried to stay in His presence. As I have done that, God has been dealing with me on some issues.
One morning, He dealt with me on creation. The way He created the world was so amazing. If we could have been there, I am sure we would have just stood in awe. However, we could not have been there because there was nothing there nor no one there that was yet created.
Genesis 1:1-3 says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said . . .” How amazing that God walked out into nothing and spoke and the world as we know it began! We all know that the spoken word of God is powerful but to just speak and create a world – now that’s power!
As I sat and thought about how God walked into nothing and created the world, the Holy Spirit began to speak to me concerning how we should not get discouraged when things are not going like we think they should go. We should not get discouraged when it appears that nothing is going on in our lives. For just as God spoke into the nothingness in the atmosphere and created a new day so He will move in our lives and speak forth a brand new day! I got excited.
So much change has been occurring and is still occurring in my life. Things that have never happened to me before are happening. I have been facing new trials, tribulations and God knows new temptations. God has shown me things in my heart that I did not know were there. I’ve done things right and I’ve done things wrong. I have cut loose many people that were in my life and new people are entering in. It was and still is so uncomfortable. For the first time in my life I could not see what was ahead of me and what was for me. That was frightening. I was questioning my purpose. I doubted myself. My faith and stability in God were definitely being tested. What was going on? What was happening to me? I was in the midst of transition!
I remember waking up speaking the Word of God into my life and saying, “alright – right now would be a good time to see the Word manifested.” I remember thinking, “James must not have gone through what I am going through. It he had, he wouldn’t have said to count it all joy when you fall into many temptations; knowing this that the trying of your faith worketh patience . . . ” I said, “I have enough patience! And this thing is too hard for me to have joy!” I didn’t feel joyful. I felt pain. But then, I realize that although I felt like things were so out of control (or out of my control) the Lord is still in control.
In spite of what I face every day, God is still God! In spite of obstacles in my way, God is still God. In spite of the so-called friends that do not understand but talked about me behind my back God is still in control. It is in knowing this that comforts me.
Romans 8:28 states, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” Knowing that all the changes and challenges occurring in my life will work together for my good and knowing that God created me for a purpose keeps me going.
God, whether I feel it or not, is moving upon the face of my life and is speaking. And because He’s speaking, a new day is being created in my life.
We know that new things cannot happen without change. If I get a promotion on my job, change will be required. I might not be able to stay in the same location. I might have to work with new people. I will have new responsibilities which will require skills that I might not have had to use in the old position. I’d probably feel more pressure to perform in an excellent matter. It will probably be uncomfortable at first because of all the adjustments I would have to make. However, the rewards will be greater as well: my paycheck would be bigger and I’ll acquire greater knowledge and skills . . .
It’s similar with Spiritual change. One cannot grow and go higher spiritually without inward and outward change. We endure the uncomfortableness of change by realizing that God has a purpose for this change.
We have to keep in mind that as God is creating our new days, He is also saying, “Let there be holiness! Let there be righteousness! Let there be integrity! Let there be healing! Let there be success! Let there be blessing on every side! Let there be doors with great opportunities opened up and shut the wrong doors that the enemy is trying to use to deceive! Let there be strength! Let there be steadfastness! Let there be Godly friends! Let there be life more abundantly! Let all the things that I have promised in My Word began to come forth!” We’ll find that we are being changed more and more into the very image of God.
God has confidence that we can handle our new responsibilities because He made us. He has instilled within us all that we need to carry out what He has created us to do. Our lives will be a living testimony of the greatness of God. And just as others try to explain the earthly creation with theories of the big bang and evolution, so they will try to inquire about our lives in search of how we came to be as we are. They’ll say, “how could she have done the things that she has done? There has got to be some explanation.” We will give all glory unto God. We will set the example and we will be God’s proof and praise in the earth.
So when change is occurring in your life and life seems unbearable do not give up. Pray! Hold fast to your faith and to God’s promises. Recognize that the enemy does not want you to endure change. The enemy is afraid of you and the greater power and influence you will have as you continue to grow stronger in the Lord. That’s why he fights so hard against you. The enemy wants you to get weary so he can get you to doubt. See he knows that he can get some people to question their salvation. You might be a little stronger and tougher than that. The days of tempting you to question your salvation might be behind but if he could only get you to get off focused and get discouraged and get weary in well doing or if he could only get you to be complacent he knows that you will not reach your full potential. The enemy wants you to throw in the towel. The enemy will try to deceive you with words like, “Oh, yes, God is almighty but there’s only so much you can take. You are not going to make it. You don’t even know what you are doing or where you are going anymore. This is just too much for you. Where is your God now!?” Oh, but hold on! Do not lose confidence in God or in yourself. See, if you lose confidence in yourself, it’s the same as losing confidence in God because you do not believe that what He said He’ll do in you He’ll do.
Endure the changes. Resist the temptations and just trust God! Cling to Him. Do not be moved by your feelings. Do not inundate yourself in self-piety. Read inspiring books about people who have successfully dealt with similar issues. Do not hang around people who discourage you or people who are not encouraging you to draw closer to God. Stay in the holy presence of God. Separate yourself from negative influences and saturate yourself with the Word of God.
Do not run from change. Know that you are up for the challenge. Trust God. Let Him move in your life. He is speaking. He is creating a new day.
“And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good(Genesis 1:31).”
