Hello Everyone. I just wanted to check in with you to say hello and share a little bit with you. At the beginning of the year, I told you that I didn’t make any new resolutions. My goal was to continue to make the inner changes that would bring about continual progression in the direction of my God given dreams and goals. I quote me, “Yes. Yes. My goal is to progress on my journey while God continues to deal with me and reveal Himself and myself to me so that I can fulfill the call of God on my life.”
Whew! Who knew what that would set in motion? Who knew the war that would start by my stepping more confidently in the direction of my destiny.?! Who knew that it would seem as if everything in my life would be shaken?!
However, in the process, God has been revealing Himself and myself to me. Because of the battles I’ve been in, I have gotten to know God better as Jehovah Tsebaioth- the Lord of Host! He wields His sword and commands an army of angels! When the enemy stepped in and tried to steal my peace, I got to know God more as Jehovah Shalom- the Lord our peace! When I made wrong decisions, God revealed Himself as the One who forgives, because I sure needed it. When I faced those times when I thought no one understood, God revealed Himself as Jehovah Shammah- The Lord who is there. He never left me! Oh, believe me, I could go on.
In the midst of God revealing more of Himself to me during these times, I discovered that I could press forward through wherever I was- through whatever I was facing. I didn’t have to get off track. I didn’t have to stop progressing. I discovered that I could finish strong! Finish what strong? Whatever God started in me. Whatever I was doing that would bring God glory!
I wore a bracelet for the majority of the year that simply said “Finish Strong!” When tough times came, I tried very hard to stay in God’s word in order to remind myself that greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world! I will finish and I’ll finish strong. I had some tough graduate classes this year. But I didn’t quit. I’m finishing strong and coming out on top! I met up with… umm, ok, let me word this right… I met with some unexpected challenges from people and places that I had poured myself into for years… but guess what? It didn’t break me. I’m finishing strong. I lost over 50 lbs and gained 15 (give or take a pound or 5
But you feel me!), but Yall, I’m finishing strong!
Although the challenges have been intense, God has been so good. He has been the strength that has enabled me to stand and progress. He has been the comfort that I’ve needed. He has been the friend that I needed. He has been right there cheering me on- right there providing me with divine strength, divine favor, divine connections and divine opportunities. I can honestly declare that I’m standing stronger than I was at the beginning of the year!
October is right around the corner. When that occurs, we will be in the 4th and final quarter of the year. A new year is right around the bend. I want to encourage you to finish strong! Whatever you’re facing- be it difficult or easy, finish strong! Keep looking to God who is the Author and Finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). We must keep in mind that it is God who enables and empowers us to finish. It is only God who defines us! It is God who promotes us (Psalms 75:6)! It is God whom we are in Covenant with (Gen 12:1-3, Heb 8:6)! Because He is true to His word, we can finish strong! I believe we are getting ready to walk in extraordinary times. Now is the time to keep pressing.
Now is the time to pursue, pursue, pursue! However, in all our pursuits, we must make sure that we are pursuing God first and foremost with all our hearts (Matthew 6:33, Jeremiah 29:13)! We must stay in a state of worship to God. Worshipping God will keep you from being consumed with you. Worshipping God will keep your focus off of your circumstances. Worshippng God will keep us from worshipping and idolizing people and things and will keep you from falling apart when those people and things turn on you (Hmmm, where did that come from? Who was that for?). Worship will keep you in remembrance of God’s greatness and of the fact that one word from God can change your life! He will in turn keep you planted in the direction of your destiny.
Keep that in mind as we finish up the last quarter of the year. I challenge you to finish strong. Let’s finish strong knowing that God is for us. He is our Champion and He will complete and perfect what He started in us (Philippians 1:6 amplified)!
Just something to think about today.
Stay encouraged and in God’s presence!

While sitting here writing, I decided to take a break in order to return emails, check my twitter account and do a little reading. I came across this passage from a great book. I just have to share with you. It’s not long. Please read it all. It has a great message. Of course at the end I have issued a challenge.
Excerpt from
The Simple Truths of Appreciation
by Barbara Glanz
When I speak about appreciation, I use this quote by Albert Schweitzer:
“Sometimes our light goes out but is blown again into flame by an encounter with another human being. Each of us owes the deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this inner light.”
Then I ask my audiences to please shut their eyes and think about someone, who at some time in their lives, has rekindled their inner light. I leave the room in silence for several minutes, and it is always a profound experience as they remember the joy they received from being appreciated by someone when they needed it the most.
Afterwards I ask them to write down the name of the person they thought of and to commit to their own act of appreciation by letting that person know in the next 72 hours that he or she was thought of. I suggest a phone call, a note, or even a little prayer if they are no longer living.
After one moving session, a gentleman came up to talk with me and thanked me for creating a new awareness in him. He said he thought of his eighth grade literature teacher because she was everyone’s favorite teacher, and had really made a difference in all of their lives. He planned to track his teacher down, and when he finally found her, he wrote to her.
The following week he received this letter:
Dear John,
You will never know how much your letter meant to me. I am 83 years old, and I am living all alone in one room. My friends are all gone. My family’s gone. I taught 50 years and yours is the first “thank you” letter I have ever gotten from a student. Sometimes I wonder what I did with my life. I will read and reread your letter until the day I die.
He just sobbed on the phone. He said, “She is always the one we talk about at every reunion. She was everyone’s favorite teacher – we loved her!” But no one had ever told her…until she received his letter.
Wasn’t that powerful? Showing appreciation is so important. So many times we think people know how we feel or how they have impacted our lives, but perhaps they don’t. Marriages break up because someone doesn’t feel appreciated. People leave churches and places of employment or even do worse things because they don’t feel appreciated.
Today I am going to piggy back off of Barbara and ask you to close your eyes and think about someone who has in one way or another inspired you or impacted your life for the better. Who is that person that gave you the extra push or encouragement when you were tempted to quit? Maybe there is a person that saw something in you that no one else saw. Maybe someone took you in their home for minute when there was trouble in your home. Maybe someone prayed for you or made you laugh when your life was in turmoil. Who is the person that made a difference in your life? Was it a parent, a teacher, or a childhood friend? It could have happened last week, last decade, or even longer. Maybe there is more than one person. Write their names down.
Now commit to writing and sending them a letter of appreciation during the week you are reading this. You may have to track some people down. If you do, than do it. After you have found them, write and send off the letter. A handwritten letter is always nice because it is personal and it can be a keepsake to read over and over again. Write the letter. Let it come from the heart. My friend Sharon Lawrence-Taylor always tells me “What comes from the heart, reaches the heart!” If you can’t send a handwritten letter, email them or call them on the phone. You may never know what it would mean to them. You don’t know what someone might be going through. Your appreciation might be exactly what they need. Don’t just assume that people know that they have made a difference. Tell them. If that person is no longer living, well, take time to thank God for putting that person in your life at a time you needed him or her.
Are you up for the challenge? I know you are. This is a good one (not that the others were not- smile). This is an opportunity to bless someone and make him or her feel good by letting him or her know that he or she did something good. I remember when folks wore the “WWJD?” (What Would Jesus Do?) braclets. For this challenge, envision yourself wearing a “HWIF?” bracelet. What does “HWIF?” stand for? It stands for “How Would I Feel? “
How would you feel if you received a letter stating, “Dear You, You may not even remember but you really made a difference in my life when you … I just want to say thank you. You may never know what your presence and actions did for me at that time in my life. I am better because of you!” Wow, how would you feel? Don’t waste an opportunity. Let’s make giving appreciation a way of life!
Until next time,
Stay encouraged and Stay in God’s presence!

PS. By the way, I appreciate you!

I’ve been working on a few projects lately. I have a mission and I’ve been working diligently at fulfilling it. Today, I was working on one of my projects called ‘Inspire A Soul.’ I was at the printing company working on putting my poems together that people are requesting. Today I was cutting, laminating, and signing. As I cut and trimmed, I noticed that the finished product was not straight. No matter how hard I trimmed, I just couldn’t seem to get the edges straight.
I became a little frustrated. They had to be perfect or at least as close to perfect as they can be. In the midst of cutting, trimming, and frustration, it was like I heard God say, “Flawed, but with a flawless message, just like you.” It got my attention. Immediately, I realized that my attention had shifted from the message that I was trying to send out- it shifted to the package that I was trying to present the message in. Hmm… stay with me ’cause you know what happen next. I started thinking about my life and how in so many ways I have shifted trying to perfect the package- trying to present the package in a way that people will receive in order to get the message. Now don’t get me wrong. I don’t think you should present yourself in any old kind of way. What I am saying is that we cannot get so caught up and consumed in the package that we never present the message that God has given us to give.
God knows we have flaws yet He still entrusted us with a powerful, valuable and flawless message. We have a message of hope. We have a message proclaiming God’s love and His ability to see folks through hard times. We have a good news message that must be told.
In my pursuit of becoming a person of optimal health, do I wait until I am at my ideal weight before I share the message? Or could the message include what God has done and my expectation of what He has promised to do in my life? Do I wait until I am transformed or do I allow people to see the transforming power of God right before their eyes? Do I wait until I have the title “Dr.” before my name before I articulate the love of God? Having that title may make one “feel” more valuable and received but what if I never get that title? Am I not just as valuable? Does it make the message of God ineffective? Does it negate the power of the Word? Do I wait until I am a best selling author or do I wait until I am invited to the Oprah Show before I start communicating? God’s message that He wants to send is just as effective with or without our perfections, titles,… Why? Because the message, although sent through us, is not about us. Let me state that again. The message, although sent through us, is not about us.
I’m reminded of Peter’s character flaws. He was a disciple of Christ. He hung out with Jesus. Peter could be a hot head at times. In addition, he was fearful, he wrestled with who he was, he denied Christ and he struggled with guilt. However, he was still used mightily of God. Peter was able to reach many people with his God given message and God ordained purpose. The Apostle Paul didn’t try to be perfect before he delivered the message God placed in him. As a matter of fact, he said in 1 Corinthians 2:1-5,
1And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
2For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
3And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
5That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”
So needless to say, I kept packaging up my poems. As a matter of fact, I kind of smiled at their flaws because I had gotten the revelation that God had packed a powerful message right there in the midst of the flaws. Wow!
OK, here comes the challenge. I challenge you this weekend and upcoming week to look past your flaws. (They don’t define you anyways). Get an understanding that this is not all about you! I challenge you to get an understanding of just how powerful the message is that God has put on the inside of you. While He is perfecting us, He still uses us. In the midst of our human flaws, God can and does still use us to carry forth a powerful witness, a potent word and perfected praise. Wow, what an awesome God we serve!
Until next time, Stay encouraged and Stay in His presence!

I see the Sunrise- a start of a brand new day-
A chance to seek God’s face- A chance to get things right. My opportunity to let the important people in my life know they are loved, appreciated and valued. A chance to wipe away a tear from the eyes of a child; A chance to give away a smile and a kind word to a stranger since we never know what someone may be going through; A day to consciously and purposely forgive and not be moved when someone angers me purposely.
Yes, I see the Sunrise- a new day of mercies- a new day of miracles and challenges. New opportunities to work on my Goals and dreams My Dreams! A new time to follow my purpose with passion; A day to live by the standards and values which govern my life. A day to meet new friends- my divine connections. Another opportunity to reach Higher Heights as I am renewed in the spirit of my mind. This is my chance to be empowered, enthused and innovative. A day to teach and be taught. Time to take some risk and believe that I am well able to beat the odds- well able to overcome- well able to possess my land.
Yes, the Sunrise- a break of a brand new day! Time for me to be a tonesetter- an example. My opportunity to show someone else a different view out of a different window- creating doors of opportunities for myself as well as for others.
Here I am Rising to meet the Occasion. Spreading my light as an Eagle spreads its wings until it reaches immeasurable heights! Spreading my light like that of the sun- Overcoming darkness. Bringing warmth and embracing all who stand in its presence. Here I am Rising— Simply because I am suppose to.
Stay encouraged and in God’s presene!

You know God never ceases to amaze me. He is such a good Father. He is always right there to remind His children of the love that He has
for us. Like a good parent He always encourages- always reminds us of who we are, who He is, and who we are in Him. “There’s no need to worry,” He says. “I’m in control. Keep your focus on Me and your hope in Me. I created the heavens and the earth and everything in them. I’ve got you!”
I know the news often looks rough. We hear of illnesses, job closures and losses as well as people giving up. However we do not concede to the circumstances or the negativity around us. It is here in the midst of darkness that God’s light in us can and will shine brightest. It is here in what often seems like hopeless times that we must be like Abraham in the bible “who against hope believed in hope!” Let’s get our hopes up and spread it everywhere we go.
So, I just want to give you this word today.
“God’s got you! Believe God period!” Where ever you are today- whatever you are going through, whatever you are facing, God’s got you! Get your hopes and expectations up! You are so much more than what your circumstances say. You are far more valuable that what others even know. Get ready for a divine explosion in your life. Hold onto your faith. Don’t lose or cast away your confidence (Hebrews 10:35-37) and always keep praises to God coming from your mouth (Psalm 34).
Believe the word and promises of God. Be fully persuaded that He will do what He promised He would (Romans 4). Difficult times don’t change who He is. Every day is a new opportunity for God to shine through you and show out in you! Get ready to be elevated in the midst of difficulty. The world needs messengers of hope. The world needs people who are unafraid to rise to the occasion and step into greatness. Be a messenger of hope and inspiration. You can and you will rise to the occasion of greatness! Are you ready?
Romans 4:16-21
16Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
18Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
19And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb:
20He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Until next time,
Stay encouraged and stay in God’s presence!

Yes, I know Easter is over.
Don’t think that I am caught in a time warp. However I think we should think about the resurrection of Christ every day. Every day I need to remind myself that Christ rose. Every day I need to be aware of the significance of that action. It is the foundation of Christian belief. What did His resurrection actually mean to me? How did it benefit me? How are those benefits evident in my life today? What does it mean to honestly live a resurrected life in Christ?
As I contimplated it today, a thought struck me. In the book of Mark 16:6 we see that Mary had reached the tomb where Jesus had been placed. She was told by a man that Jesus was no longer there. He had risen. The stone had been rolled away. You know the story.
A couple of years ago I was writing an article about the resurrection. I think it turned out pretty good. I got a little excited over it. It asked the question: What needs to be resurrected in your life… It ended with ”Thank God that Jesus was resurrected. He got up! And because He got up, I can to. I am risen! Risen from the past. Risen from whatever held me captive. No longer am I wrapped up and sealed behind the stone- the stone of fear, the stone of oppression, the stone of whatever! So, don’t look for me to be in that place, although it might be where you last saw me. Don’t look for me in the tomb! I am not there! My stone has been rolled away. I am no longer bound but I am free to be fully alive- free to complete the work of my Father! Thank God for His resurrection power!!” I thought it was pretty powerful however it was incomplete.
When Mary went to tend to Jesus in the tomb she discovered that He was not there. Not only did Jesus “rise” but He “left the tomb.”
Many times many of us believe that we to have been resurrected to a new life but yet we still hang out around the tomb. After Jesus arose, He went on about His business and mission. He didn’t hang out around the tomb or dead things trying to convince people that He was alive.
Have you ever been through something hard but now you’re past it? However, people still think you’re in the tomb. They try to keep you in your same state and nurse your issues now that your issues are past. Maybe you had a bout with depression. Maybe you had legal issues. Maybe you lost everything. I don’t know what you’ve been through. Let me give you a piece of advice. Don’t hang around the tomb trying to convince people that you are ok. Just go ahead and live your life. Sooner or later, someone will let folks know that you’re ok. It is not your responsibility to convince them that you’re not in the same place. Many times people would like to keep you near your tomb for their own benefits (Thats a whole different story). Move away from the tomb- those things connected with your past or deadly issues.
Because Jesus has risen, I can arise as well!! How awesome and cool is that? Let’s celebrate the risen Savior by rising. Let the stones of fear, doubt, unbelief,…be rolled back. Be unwrapped from the cares of life! Arise and be who God has called you to be. Come forth yall and walk away from the tomb. God will declare your resurrection as you move in the direction of your dreams and purpose!!!”
Keep progressing! Stay encouraged and of course, Stay in God’s presence!

Hello Everyone. How is the continual progression going? I know we have a lot going on in our Nations as well as in our own personal lives. I want to challenge you to hold on and keep the faith. Build yourself up in the Word of God so you won’t be affected by all the bad news on the news.
It’s so predictable. As soon as we make choices to lead better lives and lives according to the Word of God, the enemy comes quickly. he comes to challenge us for our faith and for our identity in Christ.
I was talking with a young lady yesterday who told that she never had any major life problems when she was out running the streets, getting high and just tripping. But once she decided to change her life, she ran into all kinds of problems.
I also spoke with a young man who said that every since he has decided to get serious about living the word of God, temptations were coming at him left and right. Stuff that didn’t even used to tempt him was tempting him now.
I thought about Luke 4. In this chapter, Jesus was in the wilderness being tempted by the enemy. Jesus had been fasting and praying and then up jumps the enemy. There is lot in this particular chapter but I just want to keep it simple. The emeny outwardly tempted Jesus in basically four areas: The Physical need (I know you’re hungry, if you be the Son of God, then turn these stones into bread–You know You’re hungry. You know You want it); Materialistically (the enemy took Jesus up to a high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world. All this could be yours along with the power and glory of them if You just worship me); Emotionally to question His identity (If you really are the Son of God); Spiritually (You know what the Word of God says, jump off this pinnacle and let’s see the Word in action. It is written that God would give His angels charge over you.)
WHATEVER! The enemy was trying to capitalize on Jesus’ weakened state. The enemy thought that he could get Jesus to try and prove who He was and to question who He was and who God was. The enemy thought he could give a false appearance of being much more powerful than he really was or is. However, Jesus knew who He himself was. He knew that His Father was God and He knew the enemy was no god and had nothing to offer Him. Jesus knew He had nothing to prove! Jesus spoke the Word which kept Him from entertaining the thoughts of the enemy.
What about you? What’s going on in your dialogue with the enemy? Have you given him your ear? Are you giving into temptation? Is he getting you to question who you are or who God is? Remember, when you know who you are, you don’t have to prove anything. Do you think that the enemy has anything to offer you? Well, he doesn’t. The enemy is a thief. All he wants is to steal from you- especially your faith. That’s what he is after.
Arm yourself with the Word of God! The Word of God is your authority in the earth. It is your weapon. Arm yourself with the knowledge that every thing you need- every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of light- that’s God! The enemy has nothing to offer you and you have nothing to prove to him.
When the enemy discovered he wasn’t gaining in ground with Jesus, he left Him for a season. I guess he had to try and put together a new game plan. But look what Jesus did:
Luke 4:14 Then Jesus went back full of and under the power of the [Holy] Spirit into Galilee, and the fame of Him spread through the whole region round about.
Yeah, Jesus returned full of power and fame of him was spread though out the whole region.! So, when the enemy starts talking to you, remember to:
1. Speak the Word of God as your response
2. Recognize that you have noting to prove (You know who you are in God and who God is) and the enemy has nothing to offer.
3. Recognize and walk in your God given authority
4. Return full of power or powerful!
Alright, I’m done-for now (smile). Stay encouraged! Stay full of faith and power! Stay in God’s presence!

Well, it appears that the world is pausing as President-Elect Barak H. Obama is preparing to be sworn in today as the 44th President of the United States of America! Countless amounts of people have flown and driven to Washington to see and take part of this Historical Event. Others across the world are glued to their TV sets. CNN and Facebook have joined together to help capture people’s moment to moment reaction. I’ve been sharing these moments with my parents, siblings and close friends this morning. The excitment is incredible and at times sobering. What a powerful moment in time. It will be remembered forever.
I am seeing something that I have never seen in my life time. Yes, I know Obama is the first Black President. That is awesome! However, that is not what I am talking about. What I am referring to is having someone in the highest office in the United States that inspires people to have hope! To me, that in itself is amazing.
He is not perfect. He’ll make some mistakes. He won’t have all the answers and He is definitely not the answers to all our problems. However, his ability to inspire people of all ages, genders, and races - his ability to encourage people in the direction of positive change is something that is so needed today.
Hope is something that has been missing. For so long, it looked as if we had lost our ability to dream. We have been inundated with so much negative news. That negativity had slowly begun to cloudy our soul and our vision. I can’t tell you the countless amounts of people that I talk to everyday that were hopeless. They just expected things to not work out in their lives or in our communities. They were afraid to encourage their children to dream. Why should you dream and be disappointed? But now, hope is in the air. Change is in the atmosphere? The desire to dream is falling on our youth and on our Elders. Excitement and passion are running over like a waterfall. You may not like him, but you can’t deny it. Welcome President Barak Obama!
Now, I challenge you to recognize the season you are in. Get your expectations up. Get your excitment back. Dream again. Why? Because President Obama is in office? No sir. I believe that natural occurances are just reflective of Spiritual occuarances. I believe we are in a shift. We have been in difficult positions, but things are shifting. We’ve been tempted to throw in the towel but hope, along with victory, is emerging because we didn’t faint. There’s a change in the atmosphere. What will become of your dream? What do you think will happen if you believe God for what seems like the impossible? See, GOD is the answer to all our questions. He is the hope of the world. Man will fail you and disappoint you but not God. It is Him that gives us the desires of our hearts. He formed the dreams in us. He causes all things to work together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Yeah, God is up to something. He is about to show out. Are you ready? It doesn’t matter what things look like, when God arises, enemies scatter. As God arises, great things happen. Hold on ’cause a change is coming!
Psalms 42 : 5 states, “Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, my Help and my God.” It is time to not only have hope but have hope in God.
Well, as we celebrate this moment in history, be happy but also be careful to not expect man to do what only God can do. Place your hope in God!
Here’s to change!
Stay encouraged, stay hopeful and stay in God’s presence!

Well, here we are in a New Year! I don’t know about you but I’m feeling hopeful and my expectations are high. Usually I would already have had something
written and posted by New Years or shortly afterwards. However, I really wanted to take my time. I did quite a bit of evaluating on last year and I wanted to just ease into the New Year. I didn’t make any new resolutions. After much prayer and evaluation, I was led to eliminate those things that weren’t working for me, focus on and strengthen those areas that are working for me and continue to make progress.
Often times when we enter a new year, we feel pressured to make a whole bunch of new commitments and promises and start life over fresh. Nope. Not me. Does that mean I won’t or can’t take on new things? It doesn’t mean that at all. What it does mean is that it is my goal to continue to make progress in the areas that God has been dealing with me on. I’m going to continue to make the inner changes that will bring about continual progression. I’m going to continue to make steps in the direction of the dreams that God has put on the inside of me. I’m going to continue to walk out my destiny.
That’s a whole bunch of words Wendy! Yeah, I know but I am reminded of the story of the Children of Israel (Please check it out and read it. It’s powerful. It starts in the book of Exodus.) and their journey to the promised land. They encountered many obstacles and setbacks on the journey. God had to deal with them on many different areas of their lives at many different points of their journey. He dealt with their lack of identity and belief in themselves. He dealt with their not really knowing who He was or who they were although they were His chosen people. He dealt with their impure motives, their impulsiveness, the tainted contents of their heart, their faulty thinking, their disobedience, and their draw to the past. He dealt with them on their wanting the provisions of God without wanting to submit to God. All through their journey, He kept showing them who He was and who they were. It was a hard journey. A whole bunch of folks didn’t make it but some did. He gave them many opportunities to make changes but He never changed the actual journey. He provided for them all the way. He didn’t even allow their shoes to wear out. He purposed for them to make the full journey and enter into the place He promised them.
Yes. Yes. My goal is to progress on my journey while God continues to deal with me and reveal Himself and myself to me so that I can fulfill the call of God on my life. In times past, it’s been hard sometimes but I have learned along the way. I’ve gotten closer to God. I have a greater understanding of His omnipotence and sovereignty. I had to get to know Him in ways I didn’t know Him before. I had to get to know Him as Restorer, Healer, Deliverer, The Lifter of my head and as The Lord of Host- the One who fights for me. Over the years I had to learn some things. I learned that I had areas of faulty thinking- that I didn’t always love right. I had to learn what it meant to have discipline. I had to learn that no man, woman, boss, teacher, or any other human dictated my future or had control or power over my destiny! I had to learn that God is for me, mindful of me and that His thoughts toward me are good! I had to learn that God was so much greater than me and that He actually had better plans for my life than I did and what He has for me is better than anything that I can possibly imagine. Wow. I had to learn what it actually meant to walk by faith and have hope. I had to learn that God was closer to me than I thought even when I couldn’t feel Him. I had to learn that even when friends disappointed me and were not there for me, He would never leave me nor forsake me.
I’ve had to learn and relearn a lot on my journey. But I believe that what God has taught me and what He continues to teach will not only give me fuel for the rest of my journey and help me to step into the place He has promised me, but it will enable me to help somebody else- to impact and impart into the lives of others along the way.
So now, in the words and powerful message of my good friend, Minister Sharon Lawrence-Taylor, I “Just have to walk it out!“ I just have to finish strong. So, that’s what I’m going to do this year and beyond. I’m going to walk it out. I’m going to continue to make progress. I’m going to continue to stir up my gifts and be unafraid to use them. I’m going to be unafraid to shine in hopes that the light which resonates through me will inspire others and lead them in the direction of the Christ.
What about you? I challenged you last year to get in the Word of God and pray more. I challenged you to get closer to God so you can know Him better. I challenged you last year to allow Him to define you so you can live your best life and be His glory and praise in the earth. I challenged you to shine so others will be drawn to Christ by your light. What progress are you making? What direction are your feeting moving towards? What are your expectations? Are you waking up each day with great expectations? Are you expecting to walk in the promises of God? Well, start moving. Continue on your journey. Know that as you continue on, there will be a lot more to learn. There is still a lot of growing to do. There are still a lot of challenges to face. God is with you all the way. He has ordered your steps and His Word is a lamp unto your feet. He will guide you all the way into your promised place. Just don’t quit. Don’t stop putting one foot in front of the other.
Are you up for more challenges? I hope you are because I am not stopping! I believe the promises of God will manifest in our lives as we continue to live for God and make progress! Let’s make it a great year and beyond!
Stay encouraged my friends and as always Stay in His presence!

“For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from the [latter] time forth, even forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” Isaiah 9:6,7
Merry Christmas Everyone! I hope you are somewhere celebrating Christ with the ones you love! I won’t keep you long today. I just wanted to remind us all that while Christmas Day is a wonderful time to reflect on what God gave us through the birth of His Son Jesus, let us remember to not just celebrate Him on today but we must celebrate, honor and appreciate Him all year long. His love and peace should be evident in our lives every day.
Today, as we give and open gifts, as we eat lots of good food and hopefully surround ourselves with loved ones, let us be conscious to spread the Good News of Christ! Let us remember that He is the gift that remains with us the whole year through. He is the gift that keeps right on giving. He is a gift that we can offer to others every single day of our lives. Unlike gift cards, He never expires. Unlike toys, He never gets old, boring or runs out of batteries. Share the Gift. Share a testimony of His love with your family, friends or even with a stranger! Share Him with someone today. Share Him with someone tomorrow. Re-gift Him and offer Him to someone else all year round!
Until next time,
Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Here it is November 28, the day after our Nation celebrates Thanksgiving. I hope you all enjoyed your holiday and took time to reflect on what it is you are thankful for. But now that Thanksgiving
Day is over, I hope you are still thankful. I spent a wonderful time with my family. I slept in and when I awakened, the house was fragranced with the scent of my Mom’s food. It is good to be home. Not just because of Mom’s turkey, dressing, Sweet potato pies…, no that’s all good (those who are fortunate enough to eat at my Mom’s table know that she is the best cook on the planet!) but there’s just something about being home for me- something about being in the presence of folks who you know love you no matter what- folks that you know have your best interest at heart- folks that you know will fight for you if needed-there is a sense of peace and even a sense of safety here dwelling in the presence of home.
Yes, for me, it just feels good to come home. No, it’s not perfect but it’s home. For some reason it just feels easier to breathe. It’s easier to rest. It’s easier to think. It’s easier to be me. Ahhh… home.
Life can be tough. Every day we endure people, places, things and ordeals that challenge and oppose who we are and what we believe. Locally we go to work and face stress on the job. We face other people’s expectations. We face bad news. We see hurting people. Isn’t it nice to have a safe place to retreat-a place where you are reminded that everything is going to be all right- a place where you are reminded that you can walk out this journey and come out on top- a place that reminds you that you can have peace and joy even when the world seems to be having a nervous breakdown. What a wonderful dwelling place.
I am reminded of Psalms 91 which states, “He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the Shadow of the Almighty.” There are benefits to dwelling in the presence of God. There is safety. There is joy. There is favor. There is strength there. There is peace. There is understanding. There is rest. There is provision. There is identity there. There is freedom. The presence of God is an awesome place but we must remember to dwell there. Sometimes, after experiencing difficult moments or whatever, I have to consciously remind myself of my “dwelling place.”
I want to challenge you to consciously dwell in the presence of God. Find time to get into the Word of God and remind yourself of God’s greatness and His promises and provision for you. Find time during the day to retreat to a quiet spot and say, “Lord, here I am, talk to me, deal with me, reveal Yourself to me in a new way.” If you’re facing difficult situations or any situation, talk to Him about it. Just be you. He knows you. He sees what no one else can. It may feel strange at first like when you move into a new place. You have to get used to the new atmosphere- the new view. It’s like going from the garden level to the penthouse. It’s just a totally different view and experience. I dare you to try it.
Also check out the following scriptures during the next day or two to remind you about God’s presence: Psalms 16:11, Psalms 31:19-20, Psalms 34:18-19, Psalms 46:1, Psalms 95;2-3, Psalms 100:25, Psalms 140: 13 and Psalms 91.
Until next time, stay encouraged and stay in God’s presence!

We know today is the Presidential election day! There are long lines, record breaking number of voters, 24 hour news coverage. There are so many questions. Will we have the first Black President? Will we have the oldest President? Will we have the first woman Vice-President? Do we vote for change?!! Do we vote for the maverick? What about the threats of voting scams?
I’ve had people telling me that they knew who I was voting for because I am Black. Other people told me, “Well, you’re a woman, so you should want to see a woman get in.” I politely as possible told them that while these are history making moments, I’m not casting my vote based on color or gender. I did my research. I prayed about it and then I chose my candidate.
As I worked this evening, Several of my clients have come in my office to update me. I’ve been telling them, “Don’t tell me. I just want to go home, go to bed, wake up and hear the news. I don’t think I can handle it tonight! Everything is so intense! But I won’t go to sleep-no. I, like millions of others, will be right there experiencing the moment- the intensity of it all. The History making moments!
Part of me is so excited. Part of me is wondering if we as a nation really understand the times that we are in and the times that we are entering. We are in extraordinary times surrounded by intense periods.
I do pray that we get the right person in office but I also pray that we understand that neither Barak Obama nor John McCain can do for this nation what needs to be done as a whole. If we are believing that man alone can turn this nation around, we are in for a rude awakening. Nothing against either candidate- We must be a nation that turns back to God for our direction, protection & provision. We must be a nation that believes in righteousness again. We must be a people who understands the importance and beauty of worshipping God and God alone. Only God can Exalt this nation.
Tonight, yes, history will be made! Tonight, barriers will be broken! Tonight, we will see what has never been seen before-what has only been dreamed of by us and by those that came before us. It will be amazing! However, after you’ve cast your votes for Barak Obama or John McCain tonight, I encourage and challenge you to cast or recast your hearts and your commitment to God! For therein lies true and lasting hope, change, reconcilliation, security and prosperity!
It is time for change, yes it is! Real lasting change begins internally. We must commit to it individually. We must embrace a change that only God can totally bring about! Each of us must personally decide to live our best lives. We must change who & what we worship. We must change from our old ways of thinking. We must choose the route that makes us better- the route which moves us forward. We must prepare ourselves for extraordinary times even when we’re standing in the midst of crisis. We must realize that WE are God’s Elect and walk accordingly.
Ok, good night America. We will see what the morning brings!!! Get ready to walk in extraordinary times!!!
Stay encouraged!

I was speaking with a friend the other day about how I liked a newly released movie. I found myself saying, “Oh, you know, it wasn’t a bad movie. I didn’t dislike it. There were just things missing.
The connection between “this and that” was unclear. The characters were under developed. Why didn’t they bring out“so-and-so’s” character and show why she was so “such and such?” It would have added so much more depth and substance to the film. The movie left me frustrated. The build up was powerful. It had some of my favorite performers in it. It had great backing- great producers. But the story line was under developed. There was potential for a lot more to be told that just wasn’t told. I would have preferred to walk out and say it was a bad movie as opposed to saying it was good but not complete. It had the potential to be so much more.”
I found myself becoming really passionate about my amateur reviews because as I spoke, internally I was no longer just talking about a film. My mind had just switched over to life in general. I got to thinking, isn’t that how our lives have been at certain times-lacking connection-remaining under developed while remaining full of potential to change the world around us. Uggggggggh!
Ok. I hear you saying, “Wendy, how (or why) do you always end up with those kinds of thoughts? Chill out.” But it’s in me. I can’t help it. It’s part of who I am. Helping people recognize the potential inside of them- helping folks move beyond mediocrity, beyond hurt and beyond pain- to reach beyond to something greater is part of my mission and part of the reason why I have struggled with it myself. Under developed potential sticks out at me like a sore thumb. It frustrates me- especially when I see it in my own life.
Ok- so I have all this potential on the inside of me, right? I’m created by Greatness for greatness, right? I know I’m supposed to be more and do more? I know I’m supposed to impact lives and help change my world, right? Well, how do I do it? How do I develop and walk in my potential? How do I live out my full story? How do I get out of me what is in me? How do I turn my knowledge and desires into results?
I know I write this a lot but I guess I have to keep reminding myself that the first connection that we have to make that will help us honestly identify and walk in who we really are is the connection with God. He is the Creator. One day I was working with a young kid. He drew a picture. I looked at the picture and said, “Wow, that’s a nice picture of a house! You did good!” I was trying to compliment his work, build up his esteem…you know. However, I had to laugh when he told me, “That’s not a house. It’s a spaceship with a lot of rooms- getting ready to fly into the sky and go to space. It’ll be the first spaceship that will land on all the planets before it returns to earth.” I saw a box shaped figure with windows, doors and what looked like a chimney. Surely it is a house. I saw a house. He saw something else. He saw something greater. He knew what it was because he drew it. He created it. I can make assumptions but only the creator can accurately define what he created.
So often we (as well as other people) see things in our lives and we think we know what it is and then we base our life’s decisions around what we think it is. What would happen if we consult the Creator first? Whew, I wonder what would happen if we actually took time to get to know our Creator– no, I’m for real. I’m not just talking about knowing “of Him,” but knowing Him. It is in knowing Him that allows us to know us. Sit in His presence, read His word, ask Him questions, talk to Him about your life. “God, teach me about Your love and Your greatness. Teach me about Your character, so that I may know my own. God, what is it that You want from me? What am I supposed to do? Lord, how do I trust You?” As we get to know Him, as we spend time with Him, as we inquire of Him- something incredible happens– Our lives begin to take on more substance and depth. We form new revelations about who God is and what He purposed us for. Ephesians 2:10 (Amplified) states,
“For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), [a]recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].”
Another thing- Imagine you walk into a darkened room. You have a light bulb in your hand. You know that light bulb has the ability to provide the light needed for that room. You know it was made for that purpose. But it doesn’t do any good in your hand. You can yell at it, “Light the room! Turn on!!!! Let there be light!!!!!!!” But you’ll stand there frustrated because no light will appear. It doesn’t matter how great the wattage is, it will remain unlit. You have got to take that light bulb and connect it to its source of power before any light will shine.
I can stand and yell at myself, “Wendy, shine! Wendy, be great!!! Let there be…” but it won’t do any good if I have not connected with my source of power. I will stand in frustration. I will never experience, be or produce all that I am supposed to without connecting with my source of power. What a shame. My ability to “be” hasn’t changed but I won’t generate results because I didn’t connect with my source of power. It doesn’t matter how great I know I can be, I’ll be just a unlit bulb. I must connect with my source. He is full of power! I have to connect with God who knows His plans for me (Jeremiah 29:11).
It’s time to really connect to God. Some of us have been in church all our lives but never really connected to God. We connect with religion. We connect with protocol. We connect with the Pastor. We connect with people. We connect with the ideas of greatness, but never fully connect with God Himself. We know how to look, act and sound connected but…
Ok, I see this is going to be an ongoing topic here. I know I’m not done. We’ll just call this “Part One.”
Until next time, Stay encouraged and in God’s presence.

Hello Everyone. I don’t know about you but every now and then I have to remind myself of some things. Lately I’ve been dealing with a lot of people that think they really know me and that think they know what it is I should be doing with my life. Have you ever come across those kinds of people? I’m not talking about those people who have been put in your life to help mentor or stretch you. No, I’m actually talking about those people that try to squash your dreams, keep you limited and confined and do all they can to keep you from shining and breaking through barriers. You know the ones that say, “You can’t do that. You’re dreaming. You need to do this. This is what you’re supposed to do. So do it and be happy about it! This is your place. Stay in your place!” They whisper doubt in your ear. They put roadblocks in your pathway. They get in your face and boldly challenge you and your beliefs on every level. They try to strong arm you into a place you know you are not supposed to be. And if they happen to be in a place of authority, they parade around like a king, carrying around the words “What are you going to do about it?” like a weapon. Uugh!! I know what I’m talking about. I’ve faced it. I am facing it.
Or maybe you’ve encountered certain situations or issues that try to define who you are. Maybe you dealt with some depression or maybe you got into a bad financial spot. Maybe you suffered some abuse. I don’t know but instead of being just an experience, it tries to become your definition. People begin to identify you by the experience. You begin to live in that experience instead of just passing through it. But pass through it you must. You are not what happened or happens to you. There is so much more to you that you and the world around you needs to discover.
So often this month, I have wanted to yell out, “You don’t know me! You don’t even have a clue as to who I am!!! Get off me!” Oh, it’s been kind of bad! My patience has been tested and often my attitude has needed some adjusting. But something is rising up in me that refuses to be held back- that’s refusing to be confined and defined by anything and anyone that is ungodly or that is not pronouncing over me what God has spoken over my life.I had to keep reminding myself that I need to not only know Who defines me, but I need to and must walk in Who & what defines me? I am divinely defined by God. God is in control of my life. He created me! He orders my steps! He is arranging things to work out favorably for me! He will bring to past that which He promised in my life! And if anyone is in disagreement with that, I refuse to allow it to affect me. I am going to stay in faith. I’m not going to argue with you or waste my time trying to prove myself to you. I’m going to stand on God’s word and we’ll watch Him prove Himself!
People and circumstances will always try to define us but we have to be strong enough and confident enough in who we are not to let the small mindedness and misguided opinions of others or the temporary trials, setbacks, heartaches and pains that we go through phase, shake or move us. People and circumstrances can not define me. Who or what defines you? Think about it before you answer. |
| |
|
DIVINELY DEFINED
I am divinely defined by God-therefore your definition of me doesn’t matter.
You think you know me but don’t be fooled- What you see- What you think you know is really not truth-
If you want to know who I really am, close your natural eyes and see me through the eyes of God-
‘Cause I cannot be defined by my past circumstances-whether good or bad.
I cannot be defined by the names I’ve been called, by the troubles I’ve see, by the mistakes I’ve made, by what used to be.
Nor can I be defined by your limited view of what you think I am capable of doing or what you think I am capable of becoming.
So, if you know me by these things- you don’t know me. You don’t even have a clue as to who I am or what I have on the inside or what I have to offer you and the world around me.
I am divinely defined by the One who created me- the One who called me-
His definition of me- His expectation of me is all that matters.
I am divinely defined therefore I don’t look to you to tell me who I am-
I look to Him- knowing that as I seek Him, I find my own self- for it is in Him that I stand revealed.
I am divinely defined!

We are in extraordinary times. Yesterday history was made as the Democratic Convention officially nominated Barak Obama for President of the United States of America. Tonight History
will be made again when he accepts the nomination. It doesn’t matter what our individual political views are and no matter what the outcome is, we still must realize that we are in Extraordinary Times.
I want to challenge everyone to go out and exercise your right to vote in the upcoming election. If you are not registered, get registered. Otherwise, when things don’t go the way you want or when policies are developed that you don’t agree with, you have no right to complain. Vote! Vote! Vote!
I have been working with a group of young people during this whole political process helping them to understand the importance of the times we are in and the process of the whole election stuff (yeah, I know–like I know the process!). Any way, as a final project, a few weeks ago we had to write an Inauguration Speech as if we were elected President. I’ll share mine with you.
Proverbs 14:34 states, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”
Stay encouraged. Stay Prayerful and Stay in God’s presence!!!

Wow! The people have spoken. It is time for change. I stand before you today humbled and
ready to serve. It has been a long journey and we are here at the avenue of change ready to turn the corner. Many said it couldn’t be done. Many have tried to silence out the desperate cries of the American people- But you have not been silenced. You could not be silenced. You have been heard.
-
Today we join as a people- not as politicians but as people united together for the cause of building a better America. Together, we will tackle and conquer the situations that plague us. We will build on the foundations of our strengths. Together we will hold each other accountable for the change- for the difference- for the impact that we as individuals and we as a nation can and must make in our world!
No longer will we accept the loss of our children through unnecessary and crippling wars. I’m not just talking about the wars being fought in Iran and Afghanistan– No- I’m talking about the wars that we fight every day right here at home. I’m talking about the wars of poor education and of unacceptable high school drop out rates. I’m talking about the attack against the American family. I’m talking about the wars of moral decay- the wars of violence and unfair justice. No longer will we accept defeat in the wars of outrageous gas prices, unfair and unobtainable medical health care, alarming home foreclosures, job closures and other things that cripple our economy and cripple our mind causing us to develop and operate in a poverty mentality!
We wanted change. Change is here. You are the change that is needed. Your voice carries weight and power. Your actions carry weight and power. Your passion for this country- your commitment to this country- your belief that we can develop and build children and people of great character- great visionaries- will fuel the change process. Your cries against injustice- Your demand for fair treatment will help birth the hope that has been dwelling and developing on the inside of us.
We have cried out that we don’t want recession, we demand progression! We want our sons and our daughters to have access to opportunities that we never had. We want to give our youth back the power to dream, the ability to hope, the faith to believe, the resources to obtain, the opportunity to develop their gifts and talents and the courage to use them to make positive contributions in our society.
We want to give our older Americans the assurance that all their hard work was not in vain. We want them to know that it is because of the seed they sowed, the wisdom they posses and the faith they had in God that helped us to get to where we are and it will help us keep going and growing and getting better. After all they have done, they shouldn’t have to worry about whether they will be able to afford their health care or receive their social security. They should and must have a sense of peace and enjoyment knowing that their latter years will be ever greater than the former years.
We have to continue to support our troops overseas and at home. We will make sure that they have the best resources and benefits for medical and mental health. Instead of abandoning them and making them fend for themselves after they have stood and defended us, we must and will defend them and take care of them.
We know that we are a powerful nation. We have the biggest fire power… but we also want to promote and set the example of friendship and peace among ourselves and among our neighboring countries. This nation will be exalted not by muscle flexing but by righteousness- by making right choices, setting right policies and treating people right.
We have to listen to the needs of the people. We have to do what it takes to help build our nation, build and maintain a strong economy andd protect all classes of our families- create better jobs and develop ways to create more local energy sources instead of being dependent on other nations for their supply. We have to take care of our planet and deal with global warming.
We have work to do America. It’s not easy work. We are getting ready to walk in extraordinary times! We need you to get your hopes and expectations up and get ready to be a part- to be the heartbeat of this positive progression. Every one can be a part of it. Everyone can rise to this occasion.
Get ready young people! Get ready older people! Get ready people of all races and creeds and colors! We have need of you. We have great expectation of you. We have work to do. Let’s fortify ourselves. Let’s roll up our sleeves. Let’s have a mind to work, a heart to believe in the vision of a better and greater America. Let’s charge the atmosphere with hope and great expectation! We have work to do! It’s a great work and we will not allow the work to be left unfinished. We are are a great people. We are a great nation destined to make great impacts, great discoveries and great positive and lasting changes not only here in American but in our world. We can do it. We will do it. We must do it!!
I’m here to serve and lead. I understand that the greatest leaders have servants hearts. I don’t take this opportunity and charge lightly. I’m ready to do my part because I know I am not doing this alone. With God’s guidance and strength and with the American people by my side, I’m not even worried. I know we will accomplish the job. I know we are ready and the time is now. I am humbled today. I am humbled and I am ready!
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve and lead a great people.
God bless America and let America bless God.

Last night as I stepped out of the vehicle, I couldn’t help but notice how the stars brightened up the night sky. It was
an absolutely beautiful site. Actually, it was quite inspiring. It was as if the stars and the light from the stars had broken through the darkness. All of that darkness couldn’t hold back the brightness of the stars.
I often think about the things that I go through that attempt to hold back my brightness or the things that tempt me to not fully walk in who I know I am meant to be. You know stuff like fear, tragedy, self doubt, unbelief, insecurities of other people, disappointments, subtle criticism from others… Then I am reminded like last night that the light that God has put on the inside of me can not be held back. It cannot be overtaken or consumed with darkness. It’s too powerful to be hidden. It must break forth! It has to be seen and seen overcoming darkness. Then it stands as a testimony of God’s goodness and greatness. It stands as a compass leading people in the direction of the Christ.
Tell me, what is it that God has put on the inside of you that you have allowed to be hidden? What won’t you allow to shine through? What has occurred in your life or who has occurred in your life that caused the brightness of your light to go dim or caused you to question whether you are even supposed to shine?
Break forth! As I break forth and as you break forth and as others break forth, we will be like those stars in the sky- not only twinkling but standing as a source of inspiration, a testament of God’s glory- compelling and provoking the light in others to break forth and be and do what it was created to do!
Come on and shine with me. I’m so incredibily tired of holding back, aren’t you? Stir up your gifts. Use your talents. It’s in you awaiting your permission to break out. Break through the faultiness of bad thinking! Break through the fear of failure or fear of success. Break through the negative voices of people who have told you, “Who do you think you are?” Break through the abusive relationship that tries to keep you confined- the opinions of others that try to keep you defined. Break through the limits of your mind.
You were meant to shine. You were meant to impact your surroundings. What is on the inside of you is needed. Someone needs your light. They need to hear your words- your encouragement- your song. They need your smile and your wisdom and your knowledge and your expertise. Wow! Don’t hide it.
Matthew 5:14-16 states, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
And of course, one of my favorite quotes is by Marianne Williamson. It states:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
God made you to be amazing. You are a reflection of Him. You are stunning and breath taking. The light of God in you is powerful! Let it break forth and do good. A little bit of light overcomes a whole lot of darkness. I challenge you to find opportunities to shine through the darkness. Find something to do- someone to inspire and guide. Don’t be afraid of what God has put in you. Embrace who you are and break forth and shine. Ultimately, you won’t be satisfied until you do!
Stay in God’s presence!

Well today’s date is 8-8-8. I kind of like those numbers. I am told that the number 8 means
“new beginnings.” Sounds great to me. I can use some new beginnings. What about you? However, I started thinking about it… what do I do with a new beginning? Just because I am offered a new beginning- a fresh start- doesn’t mean I’ll make the best of it.
-
How do I make the best out of my life? What do I believe? What choices am I making daily? Are my choices and my beliefs hindering me and keeping me stuck? Are my actions matching up with what I “say” my beliefs are? Are my daily habits & choices reflective of God’s character? I may not be making bad decisions but am I making the best decisions for my life? What determines how I even make my decisions? Hmm…
-
Today I decided to read over in the book of Ruth (Which happens to be the 8th book of the Bible). Verse 8 of the 1st chapter states, “And Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go, return each to her mother’s house. The LORD deal kindly with you, as you have dealt with the dead and with me.”
-
Naomi’s husband and sons were now dead. She is telling her daughters-in-law to leave her and go start new lives. Here the daughters-in-law are at the point of decision. They must make a choice. Would leaving Naomi be the best choice to make? Ruth decided to stay with Naomi and serve Naomi’s God and well, long story short, she was blessed beyond measure. Choices!
-
Life is about choices. Everyday we make them. We make the choice to live for God. We choose to do right vs. wrong. We choose to forgive or be bitter and resentful. We choose to love or hate. We choose to live a healthy lifestyle or not. We choose to treat people with kindness or curse them out. We choose to be happy or sad. We choose to have joy or not. We choose to make decisions that move us forward or choose to stay stuck. We choose to take responsibility or place blame. Choices! We choose to live with integrity. We choose to walk by faith. We choose to speak what God says vs. speaking what we feel or what our circumstances say. We choose life or death. Choices!
-
I challenge you today to take an honest look at the choices you are making in your life. Could you be making better choices? For real- think about it. Are you not happy with the place you are in life? The life you live today is reflective of the previous choices you have already made. What could you do differently? You’re just choices away from a better spot. Make the better choice this week. It may appear to be a harder one but in the long run, it will work much better in your favor and will bring you closer to where you want to be. Most time better choices can require change on our part and change can be difficult- but isn’t it worth it!
-
Lamentations 3: 21-23 states, “This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”
-
We must remember that God’s mercies are new every morning but we must make the best out of each morning by making the choice to apply His word to our daily talk and our daily walk! Just something to think about.
-
Until next time, Stay encouraged and Stay in God’s presence! The choice is yours!

Yep, it’s me!
I know it has been quite a while since I have added anything to the site. I know there is a lot to catch up on. I appreciate your faithfulness in checking back as well as your emails saying, “What’s up! Where are you?”
I’ve been taking some time to just think. I’ve been thinking about where I am as far as the goals I’ve set for myself. I’ve been reevaluating some things making sure that my actions and my thoughts line up with the thoughts of God- Making sure that I am on track and living my best life. Making sure I’m working hard as well as having fun in my life. You know-trying to keep it balanced. Sometimes we can get so caught up in the everyday busyness of life and we we forget to live. I made up in my mind that I not only wanted to live my life but I wanted to live well. I’m gonna write about that soon.
Many people have asked me, “Wendy, when is the next article coming out? When is the book coming out?” I believe it will come sooner or later but in the process I understand that my life is the book that people are reading everyday. I want to make sure that the life that I live matches up with the words that I speak. I want to make sure that my life is so full of God- of His joy- that I’m living so well- that I’m so full that it spills out and overflows into every word that I write. I want it to touch everything and everyone that I come in contact with.
So here I am. Back on the keyboard. I’m ready to challenge you to reevaluate where you are! It’s time to live and live well! I’m ready to challenge you to recognize that greateness doesn’t just come because we say we are great people. Greatness emerges when we recognize and obey the Greater One (Meaning God) on the inside of us. Tell me, are you up the challenge? I know you are because you were “Created by Greatness for Greatness!”
Until next time, Stay encouraged and in God’s presence!

Hey Everyone! I’m in Nashville, Tennessee celebrating all week! I am having a great time! My family is hilarious! Believe me when I say we have been having a GREAT time! It’s good when family can get together. It’s really good when family can get together and celebrate and honor one another!
Today is Mother’s day and we are celebrating My Mom (Harriett Lilly Bandy Reynolds) as well as celebrating and remembering all Mothers who have impacted our lives. What a joy it is that every last one of Mom’s children, grandchildren and great grandchild could be here together this week to honor her and remind her of just how special and important she is to us. What a gift my Mom is to us and to this world!!!!!!!!!
My Nephew, Wellsman Andre Reynolds graduated yesterday from Belmont University. It was a great graduation and celebration afterwards. This coming Wednesday my niece, Angellec J. Reynolds will be graduating from The Nashville School of the Arts High school. We are looking forward to celebrating her as well. Also, in about two weeks, my nephew, Percy (P.J.) will be graduating from middle school. He is going into High school next year!! Yeah, go P.J.!!! Whohoo!!!!! We are so incredibly proud of them not simply based upon the fact that they have accomplished something great, but simply because of the wonderful and great people they are. Great people can’t help but accomplish great things!
I want to challenge you today to appreciate and celebrate the people in your lives on a regular bases. Remind your chidren, your family, your friends of how much you believe in them and of how great they are. Instead of focusing on the errors you think they are making in their lives, catch them having great moments and reinforce it with some personal praise and positive encouragement. I challenge you to search for the good in them and seek out good news!
In a day when we live in a world that is inundated with bad news, when every time we turn on the TV, we are constantly bombarded by news of horrendous crimes commited against one another, deadly weather, a horrible economy, job layoffs, gas prices on the rise, politicans gone bad, teens gone wild…, it is wonderful to find time to highlight good news-things that offer us hope. It’s great to catch people doing good. It reminds us that God is still good, still on the throne and still in complete control. My Pastor, Larry M. Trice, Jr., has been ministering on “Good News in Bad Times.” It’s has been a wonderful reminder to keep our focus on Christ (who is THE Good News) and how He can change and impact our lives in spite of what we have experienced in the past. He is the Hope of world. Let continue to find ways to share with and offer each other that hope.
Congratulations to all Graduates! We are so proud of you. Keep up the great work. Know that with God leading you and as you continue to develop great habits and great character, you will have no other choice but to accomplish great things. You are destined for it! You were “Created by Greatness for Greatness!!!” You had better believe it.
Parents, or whoever, please let me know of the graduate in your home or family. I want to list them. Let’s celebrate them. I am also working on a new “Highlights”page. If you get caught doing good, we want to highlight you!
Lastly, Happy Mother’s day to all Mothers! Thank you for doing all that you do. You may or may not hear it all the time, but we love you! We appreciate you and recognize the impact you have had and continue to have in our lives.
Stay encourage and in God’s presence!!
Wendy M. Reynolds
P.S. I have added a few pictures from the graduation and celebration. They are on the “Family Matters” page. Check out Dad. I’m sending that one to his church!

I just wanted
to say that God’s love never ceases to amaze me. It’s been a tough week or so but even in the midst of it all, God’s greatness continues to overshadow everything else. We just have to remind ourselves of His greatness and magnify that instead of the other stuff, even when it feels like things are not changing. We have to be careful to speak what God’s says and expect to see the manifestation of His Word and promises in our lives.
The first day of spring rolled in a little while ago. I don’t know what your weather was/is like where you are but let me tell you on day two of Spring, we had major snow here in Michigan. I sat on my couch looking out of my deck door and thought, “You’ve got to be kidding me!!” After Spring entered, we’ve had at least 2 more major snowfalls. It was cold! We broke record numbers in snow falls for our state. There were accidents everywhere. Car’s were sliding in ditches from the black ice. You could barely see in front of you while you’re driving. Schools were cancelled. We were warned to stay inside and only go out if you just had to. Incredible. Hello!! Can we get some heat please? It’s supposed to be Spring!! My brothers Wellsman and Bernard live in Tennessee. They were calling me saying, “It’s 75 degrees here. I’m sitting out on the deck. We’re about to Bar-b-Que.” My response would be, “I’m shoveling snow off my truck!”
On the second major snow fall after Spring, as I was tempted to complain, it dawned on me that it is Spring. Just because the climate outside doesn’t look as if we have entered a new season, we have still entered a new season. Spring has still arrived! Hmm… something hit me. Some of us have been declaring that it’s a new season in our lives (Israel Houghton sings about it so beautifully… “♫It’s a new season, it’s a new day. Fresh anointing, coming my way. It’s a season of power and prosperity. It’s a new season coming to me!♫“) however, there doesn’t appear to be any change. Oh but we must continue to declare it.
Although things might not look as if they are changing, they are. The climate of our lives may look like we’re still in our previous season, but don’t get discouraged. Continue to declare your new season! Continue to EXPECT to see changes every day. Put away the old season and the old mindset that went with it! Don’t wait until things look right before you walk right! Don’t you dare wait for the external changes to occur before you start making the internal changes. It’s a new season baby-snow and all! What does your new season look like?
Yesterday it was 60 degrees. The sun was shining and it was beautiful outside. I was ready for it and I was prepared for it. I had moved my Spring clothes to the front of my closet weeks ago in anticipation. I didn’t have to delay my enjoyment of the day by having to go look for stuff. I was ready. My spring shoes were on the top shoe rack and the boots had been moved to the bottom. My cool sunglasses were on the counter by the door waiting for me to put on as I stepped out into Spring. Although I finally had a little heat and sun that represented and announced Spring, Spring started for me when snow was still on the ground.
You may have been in a season of despair or a season of grief. Perhaps you had a season of rebellion or a season of struggles. Maybe things have not appeared to have changed as much as you wished. I want to challenge you to prepare now for the new season that you are expecting in your life. Ask God to give you a fresh new vision for your life. Get a new attitude. “♫Ooh Ooh Ohh Ohh Ooh…♫“ (Alright, don’t make me sing Patti Labelle…Oh sorry, my bad! Where was I…? J) Do some spiritual Spring cleaning. Get rid of stuff that is not needed and that won’t be productive in this new season. Clean up your thoughts. Develop new habits- good and productive habits that will help move you forward. See yourself accomplishing new things and enjoying life. So when opportunity arrives, you are ready to step out and seize the moment and feel good about where you are and about where you’re going! Despite what things may look like or feel like (perceptions and feelings are subject to change), the Word of God that we know, believe and speak changes the seasons of our lives!!! So, once again I will ask you, “What does your season look like?”
Stay Encouraged and Live with Great Expectation!!!!!

Resurrection Day!
I have sat here and looked at this blank page trying to figure out what words I can write that
could describe the selfless act- the indescribable love that God has for us and gave to us through the blood of His Son Jesus. I can’t seem to find any. I can’t find any words to describe the anguish Christ must have felt in the Garden of Gethsemane as He pondered what was ahead of Him- the pain of death vs. the joy of you and I having the ability to be brought back into fellowship with God so that we can receive everlasting life as well as walk in victory here on earth. What words could adequately portray the persecution, the rejection, the shame, the torture Christ took for me? What can I write to help us visualize how Jesus was repeatedly beaten beyond recognition, forced to carry a cross on His back all the way up to Calvery and then willfully and forgivingly hung to His death in front of His mother, His friends and His enemies? What words can I write that could convey the victory, the power and the authority that became ours after Jesus arose from tomb conquering hell and death? Somebody give me some words. I can’t find them. I am overwhelmed! I’m in awe! Today I am speechless! All I can say today is Worthy is the Lamb of God!!!!
He Is Risen (And So Am I!)
(reprint)
Here it is Easter. For us, it’s not about Easter eggs, bunnies, new clothes, and baskets. For us it’s a
day to celebrate what we should be celebrating every day. It’s a time where my family and I celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. What words can I use to express and reflect the greatness, the power, . . . What an awesome . . . Well, there are no words to describe the awesomeness of what He did for us. Thank You God!
As I thought about the resurrection of Jesus, I remembered that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead has raised us (for those who believe) as well with Him. I begin to think about what area’s of my life are in need of resurrection? What have I allowed to die in my life that needs to be brought back alive? Do my dreams need resurrecting? Are my hope and faith fully alive? Am I operating in purpose? Am I fully alive?
This is my challenge: To allow God to breathe new life into me. With new life comes new energy, fresh revelation, new hope and new faith to pursue God and the completion of the work that He has purposed me for.
What about you? What needs to be resurrected in you? What dreams have you allowed to die? What work needs to be completed in you? I want to challenge you to take an inward journey and discover those answers for yourself. As you discover them, know that God is there waiting to breathe the breath of life into you. He is saying, “Get up! Now is the time to finish the work! Now is the time to show My power and My victory in your life. You may have been down for a little while. People might have counted you out. Some wept over you. Some celebrated the fact that your dreams have seemed to dissolve. Oh, but get up and get ready! It is not too late! It’s the perfect time for your resurrection!”
Thank God that Jesus was resurrected. Thank God for His resurrection power!!
Wendy M. Reynolds
Mark 16: 6 But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is RISEN! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.

I remember many years ago, my sister Michele and I were spending the night
at my Aunt Mary’s house. I had to be about eight maybe. My cousins Michael and Marc, my sister and I were sitting around the dining room table playing some sort of card game. For some reason Michael (who is the same age as I am) decided he was going to start calling me out of my name. Now, even back then I was a pretty great kid (no, really I wasJ )—fun loving but calm and mellow (Of course that is how I remember it!). I didn’t yell at him. I didn’t cry. I didn’t tattle. I just looked at him and calmly said, “Michael, stop calling me out of my name. He kept on and every now and then, I’d look up and say, “Michael, stop calling me out of my name.”
We kept playing cards and he just kept right on talking. Eventually, I got up (calmly), walked into Michael’s bedroom, came out with his boxing gloves and commenced to beating him with his own boxing gloves that I was holding in my hands. I beat him out of the dining room into the living room where we turned over my aunt’s white sofa. With each hit, I recall saying “Didn’t-I-tell-you–to-stop-calling-me-out-of-my-name?! My name is W-E-N-D-Y! Leave me alone!” He got hit with each spoken syllable of each word.
As we grew up (Michael and I were always close), he would share that incident with others (so I know he doesn’t mind me

sharing this now). If I ever tried to have a boyfriend, He would say stuff like, “Yeah, man, she is nice but don’t mess with her. She’ll beat you. Let me tell you what she did to me . . .” That story followed me even through college.
So, why am I telling this story now? It came to the forefront of my mind recently as I and as I watch other people get called out of their name.
Often times, life’s struggles and the enemy to your faith can begin to call you out of your name. Maybe your struggle is with finances, so you get called “broke” or “poor.” Well, that’s not your name. Maybe your struggle is with insecurities, so you get called “low self-esteem” or “not good enough.” Well, let me tell you, that is not your name. Maybe you get called “failure, quitter, loser, bitter, compromise, liar, controlling, cheater, promiscuous, depressed, mistreated, addict, unholy, immoral, unhealthy, stressed. . . Those are not your name!!!
Listen, as the little girl who was pushed to the limits by my (now) wonderful cousin, I knew my name and wasn’t going to let him call me anything else. He was not going to rob me of who I knew I was. And so it has to be with us spiritually.
What names are you being called that isn’t in line with what God called you? Do you even know your name? A person who doesn’t know his/her name will answer to anything. Anyone or any circumstance will be able to define them. Do you know that you are the righteousness of God, fearfully and wonderfully made, God’s friend, peaceful, free, holy, confident, wealthy, forgiven, forgiving, healthy, favored, winner, more than a conqueror, steadfast, disciplined, great. . .!?
When the enemy of your faith starts blurting out other names- when he starts to challenge you and your identity, beat him! Beat him like he stole something (Or at least like he is attempting to steal something—because he is). Beat him by speaking- by declaring the Word of God. Slap him right upside the head with it. (Notice I said with the Word of God. Don’t go around beating folks and then tell the police, “Well, Wendy said to beat him!” Don’t put me in jail! J ) We have to have a violent attitude when it comes to the enemy, our name and our God given promises. The greatest comeback, the greatest punch to the enemy, the greatest bruise AND the greatest reminder to ourselves of who we are and what belongs to us is . . . “It is written” followed by what is written in the Word of God.
I want to challenge you today to know your name! Get into the Word of God this week. Challenge yourself to find some names that God called you. Write them down along with the scripture and read over them every day. Begin to fill your mind (as well as your children, your family, your friend’s minds) with God’s thoughts about you and His people. As a matter of fact, why don’t you leave a comment on the page with a scripture that you’ve found that will remind us of who we are! For real. Let’s encourage one another. I could use the reminder. I have noticed that one of the main reasons we don’t do what we are supposed to do or completely live the life that we are supposed to live is due to our lack of understanding of who we are, to Whom we belong and what was promised. Great people know who they are! They value who the are and make choices based upon who they are. They don’t accept or conform to the name calling of the enemy. They know they are “Divinely Defined!”
As you continue to rehearse who God says you are, before you even know it, you’ll be transformed right into the Words of God that you are speaking. If you are going to be serious about living your best life- if you are going to honestly walk in the promises of God- It’s time to know your name! So tell me, what is it?!
Proverbs 21:1 (NKJ) A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold.
Stay Encouraged and Stay in God’s Presence!

I want to wish you and your family a happy and incredible New Year!! May it be the start of the best days of your life. Get your hopes up! Brush your dreams off if you have to and live in great expectation!!! Luke 1:37 reminds us that with God nothing shall be impossible. Wake up each day expecting to see the impossible in your life!
What dreams are you afraid to dream? Which ones have you written off because they seemed too great or too impossible? What have you given up on because too much time has gone by? What flame needs to be rekindled? It’s time to stir up the gifts within us! It’s time to regain our vision and our passion! It’s time to walk in our God given purpose! Not just because it is a new year but simply because it is time!
Shake off the weights and sin that have been holding you back. Let go of the past and embrace God and the future that He has for you (See Hebrews 12:1-3, Jeremiah 29:11 and Philippians 3:13). Stop being afraid to be who God created you to be. It really is OK to be you! You are a child of the Most High! You are incredible! You are anointed! You are more than a conqueror! You are a winner! You are a person of influence! You are all that because God is all of that in you. He is big and is great on the inside of you (That fact alone should keep you humble J). You have lives to touch and impact! You have stuff on the inside of you that will change the world! God put it there. Don’t let the mistakes and failures (or even the successes) of the past define you and keep you trapped in the past!
Let’s saturate ourselves in God’s Word in order to stay reminded of who He is and who we are in Him. We have to stay reminded of the love, the forgiveness, the faith, the authority, the favor and the charge that He has given us. Hey, God is great and He created you in His likeness. That means you’re great to. So, walk in it! Don’t be afraid to walk in it!
When you step out in faith, God won’t leave you hanging. Listen, He won’t leave you out there on your own. He’s there and He will complete that which He started in you! (See Philippians 1:6). You can do whatever He placed in your heart to do! Remember You were “Created by Greatness for Greatness!” Oh, hey I’m excited. Get excited with me! Let’s show the world God in us. . .in action! Let us determine to bring glory to God and show the greatness of God through the life we live!
Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas everyone! Hopefully you are somewhere celebrating Christ and enjoying your family and friends. I know I am. It’s a great day!! I hope this little poem I wrote will encourage and challenge you to celebrate Christ all year round. Wendy
MERRY CHRISTmas!
Long long ago, the Angel did proclaim
The birth of the Christ- Jesus is His name.
The shepherds, the wise men, they came from near and far-
Searching for the Savior- being led by a star.
They found Him in a manger. They knew He was the One.
They gave gifts. They worshipped Him- God’s only Son.
He would be the one to offer deliverance from sin and death.
During this season as we celebrate His birth
As we proclaim the words, “Good will towards men and peace on earth,”
As we press our way through the crowds to get that special gift
To exchange on Christmas day- to give someone’s soul a lift . . .
I challenge you to step out, look up and gaze across the sky at night
Fix your eyes upon a star that shines so bright
And ask yourself
Do I still seek the Christ- not the baby but the king?
Do I still honor Him with whatever gifts I have to bring?
Do I long to be in His presence?
Do I worship Him- give Him reverence?
Do I stand in awe of who He is and what He’s done?
Do I recognize the power of God’s love shown to me when He gave me His begotten Son?
Am I shouting out the Good News to everyone that comes my way
So they to may understand that Christmas is not just one day?
So experience the true meaning of Christmas. Let it forever saturate your heart and soul
For since the Christ has come, our lives can be made whole!
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6

ow, Christmas is a few days away. It kind of creeped up on me this year. I’ve been tempted to get a little pressured. Got to do this. Got to do that. So and so is expecting
a gift, but what do I get them? Where is my tree?!! Is there time to get ”everything” done? Then I have to hear all the complaints about how Christmas has turned into nothing but a commercialized holiday. I know “they” say it’s a commercialized holiday, but I believe it is our choice whether we commercialize Christmas or not. I think its ok to buy gifts after all, God did love us so much that He “gave” us His Son. Now, I don’t think we ought to overspend and put ourselves in debt. Don’t go charging a million dollars on your credit card and then spend the next 15 years trying to pay it off. Don’t do that. Don’t just spend, spend, spend and spend some more because the advertisements and sells are calling out to you.
During the Holiday spend sometime asking yourself the following questions: What does Christmas mean to me? Am I taking time to reflect on what it means to me? Am I taking time to instill that in others? What is the motivation behind my gift giving? When I think about Christmas, what is the first thought that comes into my mind? Are we so tired and stressed from fighting people in the malls to get that one gift that we can’t take time to enjoy and celebrate? If we don’t get that piece of jewelry- that ipod, the wii, the computer, the trip, the clothes- if we didn’t get that one gift that we’ve hinted around to all year, is Christmas ruined?
I’ve gotten some good gifts over my life, but what I most remember is sitting in front of the Christmas tree with my family laughing and enjoying each other while keeping in mind that this is the day we celebrate the birth of the Christ Child and all that He gave us. Now don’t get me wrong, we were ripping off wrapping paper to–tearing open boxes– Mom and Dad were giving their same old line that they give every year, “You all don’t listen! Now, I told yall not to buy me anything!“ I remember my sister Michele’s look of amazement and happiness one year when she discovered I didn’t buy her a book- my brothers and sister-in-laws cracking up and snapping pictures, my nieces and nephews laughter, silliness, smiles and pure joy. I remember spending time with family and friends. Those are my favorite memories.
Some years it seemed as if we had a million boxes under the tree and some years, well, not a million. However, one thing has always remained constant and strong–the love. The love that saturated and that continues to saturate our hearts and our home can not be put into words. I don’t want to paint a picture that shows my family as perfect– Lord, knows “they” are not (J). We get on each other’s nerves. We get upset with each other. (I won’t even tell you about the crazy poetry that my siblings write about each other.) But we’ve learned to not let it linger too long. We’re learning to value each other and to recognize each other as “gifts” from God to one another (At least I’ve been telling them for 40 years that I was a gift to them J).
I want to challenge you today to do several things. First and foremost, keep Christ as the center of your Christmas celebration. Take time to reflect on what His birth brought to your life. Acknowledge it, accept Him as your greatest gift and be thankful because of it. Learn to reflect on it and celebrate it daily. It will change your life. For real! He is the reason for the season!
Secondly, celebrate each other. Think about that family member, that friend and what their presence adds to your life. Find a way to let them know that you value and celebrate them.
Next, be a giver. Find someone to give to. It could be a purchased gift. It could be a gift of your time. It could be a gift of encouraging words. Extend yourself to someone. Let them know that you appreciate them and that their very life is important to you. It is good to give. It is blessed to give. You are blessed when you give.
The last challenge I have for you is this: I want to challenge you to forgive. Well, Wendy, where on earth did that come from? What does forgiveness have to do with anything? Well, I’ll tell you. So many people can’t do the other stuff because we’re angry at one another– families can’t get together anymore because someone offended someone years ago or months ago or days ago and now they refused to be in the same room with them. Someone made a decision that you didn’t agree with and now you’ve banned them from your life. Someone said something about your wig being tilted on your head and now your kids can’t play with their cousins. LET IT GO! Let that be your gift this season. Release people from their offenses. It will be a gift to them and to yourself as well. Life is too short. God did too much for us. Stop being distant. Go to the family gathering that you missed for the last few years. Go hug your parents, your son, your daughter, your brother, your sister, that Grandparent, that aunt, that uncle, your cousin, your friends. Welcome them back into your life. Life is too short to stay angry. We are robbing ourselves if we stay angry. You don’t have to make a big drama out of the event, just enter back into their lives. Somebody is missing you! Who are you missing? Drop the pride. Be the first one to say, “I’m sorry. Forgive me. I forgive you.”
I would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas filled with precious life changing moments and memories!!! May you enjoy and embrace all that Christ has done for and given you. May you remember how important and special you must be for God to have given you the best that He has. Don’t take it lightly. Don’t take His love for you lightly!
God Bless You Everyone!
Stay in His Presence!!

JOHN 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
ISAIAH 9:6
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace
LUKE 2:8-14
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

We are in the midst of the holiday season. Let’s remember to remember each other. Let us
reach out to one another and spread some CHRISTmas cheer. Actually, let’s keep aiming to do it all year round! You don’t know what somebody else is going through. You don’t know who maybe missing a loved one this holiday. Someone maybe experiencing some sadness and you might be just what they need to get through.
It has been a long year for my family. Since December ‘06, we’ve loss several family members and several friends whom we love and whose lives and deaths have impacted and changed our lives greatly. I often found myself saying, “My God, how are we going to get through this one?” I thought about it when my Aunt Claudia passed in December ‘06. I though about it again when my Aunt Polly passed in January, my cousin Billy in July, my friend from childhood, Vanessa, my friend David this past Thanksgiving. Now, I’ve found myself wondering the same thing this week as my family grieves over the unexpected death of our close family member, Annabelle Jackson. That was my girl! Full of wisdom, life, laughter and a love for God and a love for family. Her homegoing was celebrated today in Whitehall, Alabama.
But as I have wondered many times this year how we will get through- as I think about all that has happened, as I’m flooded with emotions that just can’t be put into words, God in all His greatness knows exactly what to do to get us through. We are a strong people but even strong people have those moments. Someone who I have a lot of respect for told me, “You don’t have to be strong, Jesus in you is. Just be real, be authentic and cry if you want to.” Those are liberating words. (Thanks Dr. Wanda) So I share that with you.
We often feel the need to be the strong one- the one that holds everybody up. Can’t show signs of weakness. Don’t let ‘em see you cry. Sometimes that can create a false sense of strength and a false sense of responsibility. It makes it difficult to grieve or express emotions. But remember God created you and your emotions.
I want to remind you that just as God is with us in our good days, in our laughter, in our joy and in our happiness, He is also right there with us in our grief, in our pain, in our sorrow, in our anger, and in our sometimes not understanding why things happen the way they do. Our human strengths collapses, but God’s strength holds firm always. Remember to let that be the strength you rely on. Remember that no matter what, God’s got you and He knows how to take care of you.
It is not my intent to make anybody sad today. But I think it is a good time to remember the value of life and living and the value of the people we have been blessed to have in our lives. Remember to embrace your life. Live, laugh, love and lean on the everlasting arms of God.
2nd Corinthians 12:9 states, “And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
Stay in God’s presence and embrace His strength!
